1. Clothing
The temperature in Tromsø can be down to −18°C and you will need clothing to keep youself warm from head to toe. Some essential items include:
-
Woollen underwear
-
Woollen jersey
-
Fleece jacket
-
Wind and waterproof trousers and jacket
-
Woollen socks
-
Gloves (preferably wind and waterproof)
-
Woollen hat and scarf
-
Waterproof hiking shoes/boots
Snowsuits and shoes may be provided for some local tours, so check if you plan to join one.
Whatever your choices are, the principle is to wear layers with woollen clothing closer to your skin and wind/waterproof ones outside.
2. Camera gears
1) Camera
Best Photo Quality: Single Lens Reflex Camera
Good Photo Quality: Mirrorless Camera
Average Photo Quality: GoPro
Poor Photo Quality: Mobile Phone
2) Battery
Bring extra camera batteries with you. The batteries discharge more quickly in cold weather than under normal temperature.
3) Tripod
Bring a tripod or borrow one from the tour agency. Without a tripod to stabilize the camera in long exposure mode, the photo will blur.
